The story of the non-alcoholic apple aperitif from Lana!

In 2019, Josef Holzner took over his parents' Weinsepphof business in Lana (South Tyrol). Shortly afterwards, the first attempt was made to produce a naturally cloudy red-fleshed apple juice. However, the first small-scale productions were not satisfactory and it took some time before today's Sparkling Rocco was created. In spring 2020, the time had come: Rocco was allowed to meet his first customers and, with unexpected success, the new aperitif was sold out in no time.

This was the starting signal for the Sparkling Rocco and many future products.

In February 2023, Florian Lair joined the project to make the natural Rocco accessible to as many connoisseurs as possible. Our philosophy of producing the product as naturally as possible was and still is very important. To this end, we maintain important contacts so that even with our steady growth, we do not have to compromise on quality and sustainability!

Our Rocco has now established itself as a very popular drink. This requires not only a unique product, but also a lot of passion and a strong team spirit.

We are lucky that you drink our Rocco every day and we look forward to welcoming new Rocco connoisseurs in the future :)

Cheers to many unforgettable moments!
Best regards, Your Sparkling Rocco Team

Weinsepphof

The Weinsepphof was built in 1980 and got its name from the Germanised apple variety name Winesap. The name came about because there was an orchard of the Winesap variety on this site. Unfortunately, there is now only one Winesap tree on the farm. Josef took over the farm in 2019 and is now the 3rd generation to run it.

The first idea

It all started with the difficult-to-market red-fleshed apples, so Josef ventured into processing them. Initially, a naturally unfiltered juice was produced, which was very well received by friends and house guests. The fresh acidity in the product had a very stimulating effect, so it was quickly realised that this red-fleshed apple juice had to be used in a different way to conventional apple juice. The Italian aperitivo culture is very popular in Europe and around the world, so experiments were initiated in this direction. After some time, the idea for today's Sparkling Rocco was born. The red-fleshed apple has thus found an ideal use and delights our customers every day with their aperitivo.

Our vision

In a few words, we stand for sustainability and innovation. Our goal for the near future is to constantly maintain and cultivate the quality and the local connection to production and producers. Our long-term goal is to expand the product range with our red hero in order to utilise the unique characteristics of the apple.
